Name: Emma Houston
Date of Birth: Sep 20, 1991

Shortbread, aka Emma Houston, is an internationally accomplished breaking athlete & professional dancer from Scotland, now based out of London. Coming from an avid footballing background, Emma made the transition to dance as a teen, completely immersing themself in Hip Hop Culture after watching You Got Served & seeing some international Bboys performing at the local arts centre in Stirling.  

After discovering Breaking almost 16 years ago, Emma has solidified themself as one of the top Breakers in the UK, as well as performing in the most prestigious Olivier Award Winning Hip Hop Dance companies, most notably Boy Blue's REDD in 2019, and Zoonation's West End production of Message In A Bottle, 2020. 

Emma was a finalist on Got To Dance with Boadicea back in 2012, & has worked with brands such as Adidas, Nike, Levis & Virgin Atlantic over the years. They work across many facets of the dance industry & have a 1stclass degree in contemporary dance theatre from Laban. 

Shortbread has been a semi-finalist 3 times at RedBullBC one's UK cypher, & been ranked in the top 10 in the WDSF Global Ranking, most recently finishing 8th in Montreal’s first Olympic Event, & placing 39th in the 2022 WDSF World Championships in South Korea. 

Emma also runs their dance own company called Houston Dance Collective, which focuses on hip hop & queer storytelling.
